N2VQ Operates an APRS Digipeater…

N2VQ operates an APRS digipeater in New York City under a canceled Call Sign, K2MAK. He changed his Call Sign from K2MAK on December 5, 2009. He intentionally operates the digipeater under a canceled Call Sign and has stated that he will get that Call Sign back as his club call.

N2VQ is a lid.

Yo!

I have not laughed so hard since listening to that crap live. I left radio a few years back tired of the same BS . I see the BS is still as powerful as ever ! I personally know quite a few real life lids that will not talk to me anymore because I told them so many times on the air you are a LID and nothing else !

KB2HZE, HZ1ZH & DX Linking System

OK, I’ve seen “ignorant” in Ham Radio with many LID Operators, but this stench floats straight to the top.

Case in point. US Technician Class KB2HZE and his group can’t stop operating on 20 Meters through the use of their 2 Meter rigs, internet connections to Echolink, laptop computers and remote stations from other countries. If you’re not aware, US Technician Class operators have no 20 Meter privileges. Worse yet, this group QRM’s “real” Ham Radio QSO’s already occupying a frequency.

Seems this “Worldwide DX Linking System” via the Internet and Echolink is creating havoc across the HF bands. The head Bronx Bozo has “on-air” claimed it to be “completely legal and acceptable”.

Hey dumbass, to whom is this completely legal and acceptable?

If  they didn’t QRM QSO’s I was involved in on two separate occasions today, they probably wouldn’t have ended up on the LID List, but they did – so I’m going give my thoughts on the matter of operating via remote stations in other countries, operating well above and beyond their license privileges and the intentional interference they’re proud to own up to.

Having Technician Class operators working out of their band privileges on 20 Meters HF isn’t considered any part of “Ham Spirit” in my book. This whole Internet operation insults thousands of real Ham Radio Operators and completely disrespects the hobby and its history in my opinion. Why have the license upgrade system and why spend countless hours studying for upgrades, building antennas and learning your hobby when you can connect to somebody’s remote station via the Internet and operate wherever you want without a proper license?

Well, if the FCC (or anybody else for that matter) doesn’t corral it, then that’s where the LID List comes in. When somebody Google’s your call or sees your call on the DX Cluster – you can bet your ass you’ve joined some very elite company. Guess what? All done through the use of the same platform you like so much, the Internet. No Radio Frequency required! Now anybody with an Internet connection can see just what knuckleheads you’ve become. Your effort could have been better spent studying, upgrading and building a “real” Ham Radio station, but since you’ve decided to take the easy road, we’ve decided to help you along your way (and hopefully right into a ditch).

HZ1ZH, LID OperatorHZ1ZH, LID Operator

And this from a Field & Regulatory Correspondent of the ARRL:

“The first bottom line is a person operating as the control operator of a station must have privileges for the band and mode being used. So first, a US licensee who is activating a remote station in another country has to have either a license to operate from that country or a reciprocal permit. The same applies for a foreign licensee connecting to a remote station in the US – there has to be a reciprocal agreement between the country where he is licensed and the US. The location of the transmitter is the key point here – the place where the RF is actually being generated. The Internet link can be viewed as simply a long microphone cord. So in this case, KB2HZE has to have operating authority/permission in Saudi Arabia since he activates and is the control operator for that remote station in Saudi Arabia. The US does not have a reciprocal operating agreement with the Saudis, so KB2HZE needs a Saudi license.”

So Mr. Bronx Bozo, do you have a Saudi license? Your on air comment of being “completely legal and acceptable” is off base and incorrect. “Off base and incorrect” isn’t a very good place to start in my opinion. And while I’m on my soap box, since when is “acceptable” to QRM a long standing QSO? Especially when your Internet linking partner Maan (HZ1ZH) was told several times the frequency was in use. Not only did he QRM us, he followed us to a new frequency and kept up the QRMing. A real class act.

Welcome to the LID List KB2HZE, HZ1ZH and the Worldwide DX Linking System Group. You’ve made the grade with minimal use of RF, congratulations! I wonder just how many of your member Hams have no idea their stations and their hard earned privileges are being taken advantage of (and placed in jeopardy) by imbeciles? How many of those stations you’ve talked to actually think they’re working an HF Ham Radio station in New York? How many DXCC QSL cards will be disqualified by your sham QSO’s via Echolink and a remote country station? How about your chopping at the very core of the entire DXCC program? Hmmm….

Listen to these stooges on this audio file (“coming in five-nine over 20″, “I did not catch your personal”). No proper protocol, out of band, etc. Take a few minutes to look them up on QRZ.com and you’ll see their license classification. I had a hard time listening to the innocent Hams that think they’re actually working a station in New York (via HF Radio Frequency communications). Little did they they know it was via the Internet and it’s a worthless Q. Worldwide DX Linking System Idiots.

And just for shits and giggles. “Old Time Hams that don’t want to understand how this technology works”? What a friggin’ idiot. KB2HZE – The Bronx Bozo

K3ZXL

This guy gets my vote for the LID LIST. During DXpeditions the DX station call for SA only, K3ZXL calls forever and the DX goes QRT. I hear THIS LID DOING THIS EVERY Time a BIG DXpedition is on the air

… Bugs the Hell out of me.

Tune UP

Why do some hams tune up right on top of that rare DX station? Most amplifiers are broad enough that you can tune up off frequency and still be good

“Don’t Do This!”

I say this tongue in cheek, Wayne,  However as it is, even many old-time oprs. used to do this and I was chastised when I was a new ham and later years on the same ham who chastised me for things — the same things were being done and when I said something to the offenders, I was told that I should NOT do that.  So I proceeded anyway and also informed the senior of me as well and went on my way.  But this is how some of our seniors oprs now treat us when we try to cure these slip ups of todays newer hams — ie. esp the NEW NO-CODE variety!!!  What gives???!!!  cul es hp soon, Wayne…

Your good friend, DWIGHT DAVID,

Lacking Intelligence Disorder

I truly believe that Ham Radio is heading dead on towards becoming the new Citizen Band.  I realize that this may sound a bit far-fetched at this point however, think ten years down the road.  With no accountability and the ever increasing amount of lids on the air, you can be assured that we’re halfway to a hillbilly hoedown on 20 meters.

The most frustrating part of all of this is I can remember a time when it was an honor to be an Amateur Radio operator. I was very lucky to have my father as an Elmer and many older friends that we there also. They taught me how to be a Ham. To allow these idiots to get away with this stuff angers the crap out of me.

I think we’ve all made mistakes on the air. Most of the things I see are very blatant. For example, those idiots that tune up right on top of DX stations. Obviously, they’re frustrated because they can’t get that ever precious QSO. So their inner child comes out and they decide to QRM the DX so no one can hear them. You can count on hearing that blaring tone every time there’s a good DX station.

Alright, I’ve gone on long enough. Thanks to Wayne, N0UN for telling me about this site. I am on board!

Keep Amateur Radio clean!

73′s,

Jeremy, KF9MG

About LID’s

LID syndrome has become a national disease among Hams, it’s a terrible infection we have to suffer every day on all bands. The FCC should also have a proficiency test together with a psychological test before assigning a license, seems that either there are a lot of lack of brain Hams these days.

The list of wrong behavior on radio will be too long if we really want to describe how a LID behave on the bands, how about contesters? A contest is the perfect environment where a LID feels happy, it’s where he will open his processor all the way up, he will use the highest pitch distorted audio possible and his illegal power amp, he will never respect if the frequency was used by somebody else, he will be using all his craziness to get the station he wants no matter what.

Its funny how these guys act on the bands, they have no sense at all, sometimes I wonder why they have a FCC license. Few nights ago there was a rare DX on 40M cw and this LID with a “8″ call who lived in PA was calling the DX station on his same freq in spite of it kept sending all the time “up” meaning around 1 to 2 Khz over his frequency was receiving, any DX’er on this planet will know what that means, guess what, when I checked him on QRZ, he happened to be the “President of a DX Association”, I wondered why he was doing such a stupid thing, I recorded his LID operation and sent him an email telling politely he should not do that, he never responded to me of course.

This is a very interesting topic and I like to read about it.  Hopefully the LID’s could read it as well, 73 to all.

Thanks
